Panel Peeves
"Beat the Press" panelists sound off on their rants and raves of the week: Topics include the Tea Party closes its doors to the media; Candy Crowley's new gig at CNN; demanding more transparency from South Hadley school officials following a student's suicide; Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly square off; and Katie Couric's photoshoot for Harpar's Bazaar.

Ques. If Brown (a serious politician?) can show up in a centerfold, why can't Couric (a journalist) glam up a bit? Why not, Emily? Callie, your astute observation about putting the woman in the hot seat when it is going down slipped by your cohorts. Haven't you also wondered why the "spokesperson" for any corporate ( or gov't) boo-boo is usually a woman-and a cute, young blonde one, at that? .
When Brown did the centerfold, he was a struggling law student just trying to make some money.
Catie Couric is presently the anchor of the CBS Evening News.
Not that "struggling law student" stuff. I read the Boston Herald article. It wasn't a one time thing. He was a professional model driving a Benz. The Cosmo was just his peak, not his only photo spread.
Hi ALL,
ST: If Emily was 40 pounds Heavier?
I don't particularly like what has happened to the USA news with Catie and long before her with Barbara, the now trash fence lady with "Cat calling cats"
Yet if Emily was 40 to 60 pounds heavier would she even be allowed to be on Greater Boston or Beat-the-Press.
"Not that "struggling law student" stuff. I read the Boston Herald article."
So did I. The Herald article said, "the modeling career that helped him pay for law school" and described his car as a "beat-up white Mercedes sedan."
Whatever you think of him, Brown did not come from money and has worked for everything he has ever earned, even that beat-up Mercedes.
I'll never understand why some folks feel the need to tear everything down.
