Margery Egan blames Liberal media for attacks on Mimi Alford.
Still, the trashing of Alford is well under way. It was so uncomfortable watching Barbara Walters go after her on “The View,” particularly since Walters has written an autobiography revealing her affair with a married U.S. senator of Massachusetts, Ed Brooke.

I realize the panel peeve section gives the journalists a rare moment to raise opinions on issues--and I am always interests to hear, but I think the fellow that ranted over the Lance Armstrong insvestigation I has let emotion get ahead of the facts. There is a whole lot of story to be told about doping and cycling's response to it. No matter where anyone stands on this issue, Armstrong features in that story. While he may not have been caught in regular testing, there are question marks over him and there definitely are allegations and circumstantial evidence. It's important to recognize that quite a few cyclists have served suspensions while not having tested positive, but we're convicted on circumstantial evidence, or evidence found in court proceedings. The USADA and WADA have both requested records from the investigation that was just put to rest, and at some level the Armstrong investigation goes on. Also, the news mentioned that some of the investigators were outraged that the probe was closed--which suggests again that there IS evidence.
Right now there is a battle raging between the UCI, the event organizers, and the riders and teams in cycling. Doping has become a political tool in that battle and this story begs for coverage from better journalists than the compromised parties on Versus TV. Even the labs that do the testing fail on basic rules of interest.
In the end, I don't mean to condemn or defend Armstrong, but simply to make a case for more and better reporting on doing in cycling. There really is a seamy underbelly, and it's about a lot more than just unscrupulous riders.

Well if my subtitle is correct this is an Old Story (like > 6 years) BORN_Again by whom? Ah I see the Super-PACs funding this story.
I remember when this came out with some Historian's Book. She was finally relieved to finally tell her kids about this strange story from her young life. . Bobby covered up for Sex_Craved John on a regular basis giving pay_offs.. That bad back due to PT-109 didn't hurt our Johnny one bit did it?
And the USA media covered it all up. After all it was Camelot
In our Current View of History Two Icons exist for each party
Kennedy
Reagan
When someone goes after the one the other party gets in the game.
SO although I didn't hear Marg as poster one noted it does make sense.
You just have to remember that neither the Democrat or Republican elite or the media elite care about accuracy or the knowledge for the USA public. Smoke and Mirrors a Barnum and Bailey Circus.
